Our Technology
SolDesal is a single, integrated system that produces baseload power, clean drinking water, and solar salt — all from the same process, and all from just two inputs: sunlight and seawater. Where most renewable technologies solve one problem at a time, SolDesal was engineered to solve three simultaneously, using each stage of the process to feed the next rather than treating power, water and waste as separate challenges.
Our Three-Stage Engineering Process
Concentrating Sunlight into Steam
Integrated Renewable Power
Zero-Liquid-Discharge
First, a field of mirrors concentrates sunlight to generate high-temperature steam — the same principle behind utility-scale Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plants, but applied to seawater rather than a closed freshwater loop. That steam drives a conventional turbine to generate dispatchable, on-demand electricity, giving Sol Desal genuine baseload capability that intermittent sources like PV and wind can't match without expensive storage.
Second, rather than discharging that steam after it passes through the turbine, we condense it against incoming seawater — producing clean drinking water through distillation, with no membranes, no fouling, and none of the chemical pre-treatment reverse osmosis requires.
Third, the leftover brine is crystallised into solar salt, achieving Zero Liquid Discharge and turning what would otherwise be an environmental liability into a saleable product.
Engineered for Zero Liquid Discharge
The result is a plant that's modular and scalable — deployable for communities and industries ranging from a few hundred people to 50,000 — with no fuel costs, no waste stream, and none of the regulatory delay that comes with conventional desalination discharge. It's not three technologies bolted together; it's one process, designed from the ground up to make power, water and salt production mutually reinforcing rather than competing.
Power Capacity
Water Volume
Salt Recovery
A single concentrated solar process delivers up to fifty megawatts of dedicated baseload electricity, with the same steam cycle producing clean water through membrane-free distillation.
Sol Desal produces up to 6.5ML of clean water per day, generated through thermal distillation — condensing the same steam used for power generation against incoming seawater.
Thermal crystallizers recover pure, commercial-grade dry sodium chloride, completely eliminating liquid brine waste.
