SOLDESAL AUSTRALIA: Sustainablility

SolDesal's only inputs are sunlight and seawater. SolDesal produces utility-scale levels of power and water, and uses only a tiny fraction of those outputs to operate itself. SolDesal is truly 100% green energy and desalinated water.

Zero Input Costs

SolDesal has no input costs. Sunlight is the fuel and seawater is the feedstock. Both are abundant, renewable and entirely free.

Economic Growth

Each plant offers hundreds of construction jobs and scores of full-time roles post-construction. More importantly, supplying a community with affordable power and water where it was not previously available allows communities the opportunity to develop economically.

Customised Solutions

Each plant supplies up to 50,000 people with baseload power and fresh drinking water. SolDesal is modular and scalable, and can serve communities from 500 to 50,000 people.

It's Just Better

No fossil fuels, no nuclear, no logistics chain. Greater resilience, greater independence, greater opportunity. Less environmental damage, less cost, less maintenance. Why would we make power and water any other way?

Locally Grown Food and Grazing

With plenty of fresh, clean water available, growing local produce within the solar field becomes possible — supplying fresh, quality, locally grown vegetables to the community and eliminating long and expensive supply chains. Alternatively, livestock can be grazed.

Aquifer Relief

By creating fresh drinking water from seawater, SolDesal eliminates the need to draw down precious aquifers and other environmental water sources.

Sustainable Cities

A supply of energy, water and seawater can support additional and adjunct industries such as high-value agriculture, aquaculture, and additional energy creation. SolDesal can also support any additional "bolt-on" technology.

Circular Economy

By turning waste into a saleable and profitable commodity, SolDesal conforms to circular economy principles, ensuring better outcomes for communities and the environment.

Cultural Appreciation

SolDesal supports and preserves indigenous values by allowing communities access to modern necessities without ongoing destruction of their local environment — preserving culture, country and identity.

Grid Independence

As an independent baseload power source, SolDesal does not require connection to a grid, and so does not require a third-party network — offering far greater resilience of supply to a local region, particularly over long distances.

How does SolDesal satisfy all 17 UN SDGs?

It's a bold claim! But we believe that by working in partnership (17) to deliver clean affordable power (7) and drinking water (6) — particularly in disadvantaged, regional, isolated and water-scarce areas of Australia and the world — we satisfy, on the people side, SDGs 3, 8 and 10, which in turn satisfy 1, 2 and 4. On the planet side, we satisfy 9, 11 and 12, and thereby satisfy 13, 14 and 15. We satisfy 16 by removing physical or environmental conflict over water and power, and we have no employment restrictions based on identity.
